Case Study
Step-by-Step Restoration Process by Martos Pintors
In this project, we faced an interesting challenge: a floor coated with microcement that had been installed by another company just four years earlier. Despite the relatively recent installation, the microcement floor showed significant deterioration, making a professional and urgent repair necessary. The most evident issues included cracking and failure of the varnish and sealer, which are essential for protecting the microcement and preserving its appearance. As a result of these defects, every time the floor got wet, moisture stains appeared that, although they disappeared once dry, negatively affected both the look and the functionality of the space.

Commitment to Durable and Aesthetic Solutions
For this project, the decision was made to replace the deteriorated microcement with MicroQuarz, a high-performance material that offers greater durability and resistance, especially in high-traffic floors. This choice not only enhances the floor’s appearance but also ensures longer-lasting protection and better resistance to stains and moisture.
The client’s trust is based on our ability to deliver durable and aesthetic solutions that are environmentally conscious, using high-quality materials such as MicroQuarz®.

We followed a meticulous process that ensured exceptional results
To restore this microcement floor, Martos Pintors followed a meticulous process that ensured exceptional results:
- Crack opening: All existing cracks in the floor were assessed to determine their extent and depth. They were then carefully opened to prepare them for repair.
- Stapling and repair with epoxy filler: A high-strength epoxy repair material was used to fill and seal the opened cracks. This material not only provides a strong and durable bond but is also ideal for microcement floors due to its flexibility and moisture resistance.
- Application of epoxy primer and aggregate broadcasting: An epoxy primer was applied to enhance adhesion between the microcement and the existing floor, followed by aggregate broadcasting to create a textured and resistant surface—ideal for ensuring the durability of the coating.
- Base coat application: A specially formulated MicroQuarz® base coat was applied to provide a smooth, stable surface, ready for final treatments.
- Application of HARD TRANSIT XL: This product is essential for increasing the floor’s wear resistance, especially in high-traffic areas. HARD TRANSIT XL is a high-performance coating that provides an additional layer of protection and durability.
- Application of a complete varnish system: Finally, a full varnish system was applied to seal and protect the surface, enhancing its color and texture while offering superior resistance to water and daily wear.
